Registered Nurse (PRTF)-Seeing Full Time and Part Time

SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for administering and supervising medication administration and participation in the plan of care for clients of the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) program. The Registered Nurse responds to the clients’ health needs as needed, making appropriate referrals and assessments when necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Administer and supervise the administration of medication to clients in designated PRTF units.
  2. Participate in the implementation of the treatment planning needs for clients within the designated PRTF units.
  3. Circulate through the designated units and attend to all clients’ health care needs as required. Perform medical treatments, such as wound care, on clients when indicated.
  4. Provide physical health and nurse assessments of clients, and document significant findings in the client’s record.
  5. Make appropriate referrals to the pediatrician after screening clients.
  6. Participates and assists in nursing activities specific to client admissions and ongoing treatment including but not limited to medical case management, physical health screens and nursing assessments
  7. Teach clients and staff about health care topics and medications.
  8. Utilizes the time log system to document billable hours of direct care.
  9. Orient new staff and trains them on policies and procedures.
  10. Attend client staffing and treatment team meetings as indicated.
  11. Assist and train Monarch PRTF staff to make appropriate decisions pertaining to the health care needs of clients.
  12. Note, transcribe, and check orders against Medical Administration Record (MARs) when indicated.
  13. Count narcotics daily and sign the audit sheets for controlled substances.
  14. Order, receive and distribute routine and Leave of Absence (LOA) medications.
  15. Return and credit medications when indicated.
  16. Call for lab results when indicated and follows up on outside medical appointments. Contact the physician with abnormal lab results and with emergencies.
  17. Assists with daily operations of the PRTF.
  18. Participates in Quality Improvement as indicated.
  19. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.

OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
  2. All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  3. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment.  All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  4. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  5. Other duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education: Minimum of an Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Licensure:  Valid Ohio Registered Nurse license required.
  3. Skills:

  1.  Experience:  Experience working with children and adolescents required; Previous experience in behavioral health or providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
