JOB SUMMARY:
The Runaway Homeless Youth Programs Outreach Specialist is responsible for an immediate telephone and/or in person when required response to hotline calls for youth and natural supports that call our 24/7/365 hotline. The Specialist will intervene by stabilizing the crisis, educating youth and their families/guardians, and coordinating services. Additionally, the on-call staff will document all calls into the hotline and relay the information to the program leadership via phone/email. The on-call staff will report to the Director of Operations- RHY designated supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Respond to the hotline calls in person and via telephone intervention with compassion, direct instructions, and an open mind to meet the diverse needs of our callers. The calls will be received 24/7, 7 days a week including weekends and holidays.
- Assure the documentation will be completed timely fashion.
- Work cooperatively with Host Home families.
- Assure that standards/regulations set by accrediting RHY.
- Represent the agency in the development or maintenance of relationship with other organizations including community agencies, public agencies and referral sources.
- Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct.
- Acquire practical understanding of:
- basic child, adolescent and family development
- issues that are relevant to homeless youth
- Interventions used in helping runaway and homeless teens.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
- Ability to qualify as an approved agency driver.
- Own a cell phone to be used for on-call responsibilities.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training that will provide the skills necessary to implement the program.
- Develop teamwork through collaboration and case consultation.
- All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
- Call on-call supervisor in case of an emergency situation (i.e. in need of clinical support, AWOL, safety concern for yourself or the well being of a client or family member, a client threatening to harm themselves or others.)
- Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
